AS/400 POP3 Receiver

AS/400 POP3 Receiver

NetReceive*400 provides the ability to receive email messages stored on a POP3 server that in turn can be processed by an application. NetReceive incorporates its own POP3 client software and does not require any POP3 software support on the AS/400. With NetReceive you can receive email messages, with or without attachments, from any POP3 mailbox. This includes many popular email applications including but not limited to Netscape, Microsoft’s Exchange, and LotusNotes/Domino.

NetReceive supports the receipt of attachments that can be easily used by an AS/400 application. The file attachment is saved to the IFS folder structure. You can specify the folder the attachments are saved to.

NetReceive provides Interactive, Command, and Application Program Interfaces to receive mail messages. These options give you complete flexibility in the way you pull messages. If you want to incorporate the receiving of email capability in your existing or new applications, you can use the email APIs provided with NetReceive. You can use the NETRECEIVE command to receive email from a command interface. All of the interfaces support receiving messages with attachments. NetReceive also allows you to keep the messages on the POP3 server or delete them, whichever fits with your corporate strategy.

System Requirements

NetReceive

To receive email messages NetReceive connects with a POP3 mail server and initiates the POP3 mail receive protocol. This means that your AS/400 must have local or network access to a POP3 mail server application. This can be any POP3 mail server such as Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes, Infinite Technologies Interchange, UNIX mail, an Internet Service Provider (ISP) mail application, NetMail*400’s POP3 Server or the Native IBM POP3 mail server on the AS/400. NetReceive is compatible with any POP3 mail server that follows the RFC rules for POP3 servers.
