AS/400
SMTP Gateway
AS/400 SMTP and TCP/IP
Resources
You have four
communication options available to establish e-mail exchange between an
AS/400 and a LAN or the Internet. NetMail supports all of these options.
***
Use the Net400 provided SMTP/POP3 server and client interface
facilities. |
Use
the Native SMTP interfaces included in the AS/400 operating
system. |
Use
SNADS for those LAN environments that support SNADS. |
Use
the Net400 provided MHS interface in conjunction with a Client
Access shared folder linked to a gateway PC. NetMail*400
programs administer and direct the mail as it flows through the
Client Access shared folder to a message router running on the
PC. |
*** Preferred option - This is
now incorporated the Release 10.xx software. It bypasses the entire AS/400
SMTP code base for sending e-mail and file attachments from the AS/400. It
is easy to install, configure and administer.
Shown
below are some of the ways to integrate e-mail with this resource.

You May:
Attach multiple SNADS interconnected
AS/400s, running NetMail, to the Internet under a single domain name through
AS/400 SMTP.
Send file attachments
as e-mail to any other SMTP based e-mail server under the enterprise domain name.
Send and receive
e-mail with external SMTP servers, such as Exchange, Notes and Groupwise, and forward to
other NetMail
supported gateway
connections.
Use
AS/400 applications and NetMail's API feature to generate,
send, receive and process text based business transactions via
e-mail. |
